KIRTLAND, Ohio – Turnover and a big second half from Erie Community College doomed Lakeland Community College to an 83-64 loss in its home opener Friday night.

With the loss, the Lakers fall to 0-2 as Lakeland was led in scoring again by Jeramie Burge with 26 points. Lakeland's causes to win was damaged by 26 turnovers.

Cordell Dupree was the only other Lakers in double figures with 10 points while Chandler Fointno grabbed 11 rebounds and scored nine points.

Lakeland kept everything close in the first half as Burge scored eight points and Fointno added six points but the Lakers went 0-for-8 from behind the 3-point line and trailed 31-26 at halftime.

Burge was on fire in the second half for the Lakers, shooting 70 percent on 7-of-10 shooting and scoring 18 points but was the only player in double digits in the second half as Erie outscored Lakeland 52-38 to grab the 19-point victory.

Lakeland will look to bounce back in the opener of the TJ Memorial Tournament beginning on Friday, Nov. 10 against Pitt-Titusville at 7:30 p.m.
