KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland Community College men's basketball had moments where it seemed to grab momentum but St. Clair County Community College was always able to take it right back and claim an 82-66 victory Wednesday night.
With the loss, the Lakers fall to 1-8 overall and stay at 0-2 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
Trey Granger was the only Laker in double figures with 17 points while Aaron Pate and Jeramie Burge each scored nine in the loss.
Lakeland did get off to a fast start to open the game as Chandler Fointno drilled a 3-pointer to give the Lakers a 7-2 lead in the first four minutes. Lakeland held on to the lead for almost half of the first half but St. Clair started charging back.
Granger dropped eight points in the first half but it was St. Clair holding on to a 36-29 lead at the half.
The Lakers had a few strong moments in the second half but were unable to get the game any closer than six points. Granger scored nine in the final 20 minutes and Burge added seven points but St. Clair pulled away in the final minutes to earn the 16-point victory.
Lakeland will hit the road to face Jackson College on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 3 p.m.
