PIQUA, Ohio - Lakeland Community College men's basketball used a big run to begin the second half to propel itself to a 94-81 victory over Edison State Community College Saturday afternoon. 

The win breaks a four-game losing skid and improves the Lakers overall record to 4-17 and 3-9 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. 

Ty Howard drained a pair of 3-pointers on his way to a 10-for-18 shooting night to lead Lakeland with 24 points. Jeramie Burge was close behind with 22 points. Ben Sternberg finished with 15 points, Chandler Fointno had 11 and Mario Lawson scored 10 points in the much-needed victory. 

Lakeland looked sharp from the opening half as the Lakers outscored Edison State 45-38 but it was the second half that made the difference for the Lakers. 

Lakeland opened with a 10-0 run to open the second half and the Lakers did a much better job of rebounding as Solomon Hall and Lawson did a good job down low of controlling the boards. 

With that early win, Lakeland's lead got as big as 20 and was able to outscore Edison State 49-43 in the second half to earn the 13-point victory. 

Lakeland will look to build a winning streak when it travels to face Owens Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
