SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Lakeland Community College men's basketball was able to get key stops in the final minutes thanks to a zone defense to earn a 103-93 victory over Clark State Community College Saturday afternoon. 

With the win, the Lakers improved to 5-18 overall and 4-10 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. 

Aaron Pate was able to lead Lakeland with 23 points and Ty Howard chipped in 18 points. Jeramie Burge finished with 15 while Ben Sternberg and Chandler Fointno each scored 13 and Trey Granger tossed in 11 points in the win. 

The first half was a tight one as the Lakers were only able to come out with a 39-37 lead at the half. Burge hit four 3-pointers in the opening half while Pate tossed in 10 to help Lakeland out to the lead. 

After scorig only four points in the opening half, Howard showed up in the second half and scored 14 points while Pate and Fointno each scored 13 points in the second half. With all the offense in place, it came down to the a tough zone defense to secure the 10-point victory. 

Lakeland will get back into action at home on Wednesday, Feb. 28 against Edison State Community College at 7:30 p.m.
