KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland Community College ended the regular season with a 90-75 loss to Sinclair Community College Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Lakers finish the regular season 5-20 and 4-12 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Jeramie Burge turned in a solid effort on a day that he was honored for playing his final regular season game at Lakeland. Burge scored 22 points in the loss while fellow sophomore totaled 12 points. Ty Howard and Ben Sternberg each scored 11 points in the loss. Sophomores Elijah Woods and Mario Lawson were also honored before tip-off.

Lakeland shot out to a 6-0 lead to begin the game and took a 14-10 lead after a 3-pointer from Howard with 14:17 left in the first half. Sinclair started grabbing momentum in the middle of the first half and took a 34-25 lead with 6:51 left.

The Lakers were unable to cut into the deficit before halftime and trailed 45-34 at the half. Burge scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from behind the 3-point line.

Lakeland came out in the second half and scored the first seven points as Howard made a layup with 17:21 left to get the Lakers within 45-41. Sinclair fought back to get the lead back to double digits. Sternberg played well in the second half and made a layup to get Lakeland within 72-65 with 6:05 left but that would be as close as the Lakers could get in the 15-point loss. Burge scored 10 points in the second half but it wasn't enough to help Lakeland get back into a position to win.

Lakeland will play in the OCCAC postseason tournament but tournament pairings have not been finalized.
