KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland men's basketball outscored Andrews Osborne by 40 points in the first half and cruised from there in a 102-46 victory Friday night in its first game in the TJ Memorial Tournament.
Lakeland improved to 2-0 on the season with the help of 25 points from Ronald Vann off the bench.
Jonny Bowers only played 20 minutes but was able to score a point for each minute in the game to finish with 20 points and six rebounds. Allen Sims also chipped in 10 points for the Lakers.
Bowers set the tone early on by hitting 7-of-11 shots from the field for 14 points as Lakeland outscored Andrews Osborne 56-16 at the half. The Lakers shot 64.1 percent from the field while Cory Fulton added eight assists from the point guard position.
Vann turned up his game in the second half, scoring 17 of his 25 points in the final 20 minutes to pace the Lakers. Deven Musselman, Bowers and Danny Dakdouk each scored six points in the half to help Lakeland cruise into the victory.
Lakeland will play its final game in the TJ Memorial Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 10 against Oakland Community College at 2 p.m.
