Lakeland men edge host Niagara County in overtime, 99-93

SANBORN, N.Y. – Lakeland men's basketball had enough in the tank in overtime to edge Niagara County Community College 99-93 to leave the Thunderwolves Classic with a 2-0 record Sunday evening.

Tyreke Johnson scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help Lakeland improve to 11-2 overall and remains 2-1 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

John Dawson was able to chip in 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Rob Brown scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Chandler Fointno tossed in 10 points coming off the bench.

Lakeland was able to grab the early edge in the first half and take a 41-36 into halftime. Niagara County fought back in the second half to outscore Lakeland 46-41 to force overtime.

The Lakers got the best of Niagara County in the overtime period by outscoring the hosts 17-11 to steal the overtime victory.

Lakeland will get a rematch at home against Niagara County on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m.
