KIRTLAND, Ohio – After trailing by two points at halftime, No. 18 Lakeland men's basketball roared back in the second half to cruise to a 90-69 victory over Bryant & Stratton College (Ohio) Wednesday night.

John Dawson made five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 25 points for Lakeland to help the Lakers improve to 12-3 overall and stay 2-1 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Isaiah Washington and Chandler Fointno came off the bench to combine for 37 points as Washington scored 19 and Fointno dropped 18 points in the win.

Dawson got started early on with a trio of 3-pointers to score 13 in the first half but Lakeland struggled to keep Bryant & Stratton away from the basket. Bryant & Stratton led 27-16 with 7:03 left in the half but Lakeland was able to chip into that lead and only trail by two at halftime.

Bryant & Stratton continued to get buckets in the second half as the Bobcats took a 50-40 lead with 16:13 left in the game. Lakeland did roll off 11 straight points as a Fointno 3-pointer gave the Lakers a 51-50 lead with 14:19 left.

At one point in the second half, Dawson scored seven straight, aided by a technical foul on the Bryant & Stratton coaching staff to give the Lakers a 70-56 lead with 8:56 left.

The Lakeland lead got as high as 24 points in the final minutes as the Lakers cruised to a 21-point victory. Fointno and Washington each scored 15 points in the second half for Lakeland.

Lakeland will get back into OCCAC play on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. against Clark State Community College. Clark State is 1-3 in OCCAC play.
