Lakeland shows heart in win over Hocking, 71-49

NELSONVILLE, Ohio – Lakeland men's basketball dominated nearly the entire game in a 71-49 victory on the road Saturday afternoon.

Tyreke Johnson came off the bench to score 14 points and grab seven rebounds to lead the Lakers. Lakeland improved to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Hocking fell to 3-8 in the OCCAC.

Three other players scored in double figures as Rob Brown dropped in 12 points while Jonny Bowers chipped in 11 points and Ronald Vann scored 10 in the victory.

Lakeland nearly shot 60 percent from the field and ran out to a 40-23 lead at the half. The second half wasn't much different as Lakeland controlled the game in the second half.

Lakeland will be on the road again with a road game at Edison State Community College on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.
