Lakers come up just short at Edison State, 79-72

PIQUA, Ohio – Lakeland men's basketball kept it close but was unable to get a road win at Edison State Community College with a 79-72 loss Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Lakeland falls to 16-5 overall and 6-3 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Edison State improved to 6-3 in the OCCAC.

Rob Brown put together a solid game with 14 points and 10 rebounds while John Dawson also reached 14 points. Chandler Fointno and Isaiah Washington each scored 11 points in the loss.

Lakeland typically shoots better from behind the 3-point line but made only 7-of-29 3-pointers and trailed 35-32 at the half. Lakeland kept it close in the second half but Edison State outscored the Lakers 44-40 to grab the seven-point victory.

Lakeland will be back home on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. against Bryant & Stratton College (OH).
