Lakeland holds off late Bryant & Stratton charge for win, 94-76

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland men's basketball held off a late charge from Bryant & Stratton (OH) to pick up a 94-76 victory Wednesday night.

Rob Brown scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting to help Lakeland improve to 17-5 overall and remain 6-3 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Lakeland showed balanced as John Dawson, Isaiah Washington and Cory Fulton each scored 13 points while Chandler Fointno chipped in 10 points in the win.

Fointno scored all 10 of his points in the first half as Lakeland got off to a fast start. Bryant & Stratton hung with Lakeland in the beginning of the half but Fointno hit on a pair of free throws to give Lakeland a 40-31 lead.

Fointno drilled a 3-pointer just before halftime to give the Lakers a 45-32 lead at the half.

Washington scored 12 points in the second half while Dawson dropped in 10 as Lakeland help up the offensive pressure. Fulton made a pair of free throws with 13:34 left to give the Lakers a 65-34 lead.

Bryant Stratton made the game a little closer, getting within 83-75 with 3:22 left but Lakeland was able to finish strong for the 18-point victory.

Lakeland will hit the road to face Owens Community College on Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. Owens is 0-11 in OCCAC as a Division III team.
