Johnson’s 26 points guides Lakeland past Clark State, 87-72

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Lakeland men's basketball got 26 points from Tyreke Johnson to help the Lakers to an 87-72 victory over Clark State Saturday afternoon.

Johnson made four 3-pointers to help Lakeland improve to 19-6 overall and 8-4 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Clark State fell to 5-9 in the OCCAC.

Johnson wasn't the only player scoring a bunch of points as John Dawson added 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting and added eight rebounds. Chandler Fointno chipped in 14 points while Jonny Bowers tossed in 11 points in the win.

Lakeland came out strong in the first half and outscored Clark State 42-37 but the second half was even better for the Lakers. Lakeland outscored Clark State by 10 in the second half to close out an impressive 15-point win on the road.

Lakeland will hit the road with a game against Columbus State Community College on Monday, Feb. 18 beginning at 7 p.m.
