KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland men's basketball finished the second half off strong and pulled away for a 95-80 victory over Lorain County Community College Wednesday night.

Isaiah Washington finished with a 21 point and 15 rebounds double-double to help Lakeland improve to 21-6 overall and 10-4 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Lorain County fell to 4-11 in OCCAC play.

Chandler Fointno hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points while John Dawson tossed in 15 points. Cory Fulton came off the bench to pitch in 12 points and Jonny Bowers chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds in the win.

Fointno scored 13 of his 18 points in the first half and Washington tossed in 11 points in the half. Lorain County came out shooting and jumped out to a 25-20 lead with 8:50 left in the half. Lakeland recovered and stormed back to take a 37-32 lead after a jumper by Fointno with 2:39 left. Dawson hit a layup just before halftime to help Lakeland to a 46-36 lead at the half.

Bowers scored 11 points in the second half while Washington and Dawson each scored 10 points for Lakeland. The Lakers built up a lead as large as 17 early in the second then Allen Sims later hit a layup with 12:05 left to give the Lakers a 64-48 lead.

Lorain got within seven points later in the second half but Lakeland finished strong to capture the 15-point victory.

Lakeland will play its final home game of the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Edison State Community College at 3 p.m. Edison State is 11-3 in OCCAC play.
