Lakeland (RV) starts fast to top Sinclair to close regular season on a strong note, 92-79

DAYTON, Ohio – Lakeland men's basketball came out strong in the first half and put Sinclair Community College away with a 92-79 victory to finish off the regular season Saturday afternoon.

John Dawson put together an impressive game and finished with 34 points on 12-of-24 shooting and added 10 rebounds to help Lakeland finish the regular season with a 23-6 overall record and 12-4 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Sinclair falls to 9-7 in OCCAC play.

Lakeland was just two spots out of the NJCAA Division II rankings at the beginning of the week and could crack into the rankings after this week.

Chandler Fointno added 18 points while Rob Brown tossed in 15 points. Deven Musselman came off the bench to add 14 points in the victory.

Lakeland came out on fire and outscored Sinclair by 23 points to hold a 46-23 lead at the break. Sinclair made the game a little bit closer but Lakeland still held on for a 13-point victory.

Lakeland will next play in the postseason at Ohio Christian University in Circleville on March 8 against Edison State Community College.
