ELYRIA, Ohio – After an impressive first half with four goals, Lakeland Community College men's soccer was able to coast to a 6-3 victory over Lorain County Community College Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Lakers improve their overall record to 6-3-1 while its Region XII record stays at 3-3-1.

Carlos Pesso led the way for Lakeland by earning a hat trick of three goals while assisting on another goal for seven total points in the match. Brendon Mullen, Ivan Miljak and Uri-Malcolm Young each scored a goal in the win.

Mullen was able to get everything started in the sixth minute when he took an assist from Kyle Brooks to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead. The scoring continued for Lakeland six minutes later when Pesso scored his first goal after an assist from Miljak for a 2-0 edge.

Miljak was able to score on a penalty kick in the 22^nd minute for the third goal and then Pesso added his second goal of the half after an assist from Olivier Fevrier Sildor in the 35^th minute for a commanding 4-0 lead that would hold up until halftime.

Lorain did get on the board two minutes into the second hall but Lakeland countered back in the 62^nd minute. Young knocked in a goal after an assist from Pesso for a 5-1 lead. Pesso added one more goal in the 72^nd minute after an assist from Sildor that gave the Lakers a 6-2 lead at that time. Lorain added one more goal before the final whistle but Lakeland would hold on for the win.

Lakeland will be back home on Saturday, Sept. 23 hosting Region XII opponent Ancilla College at 1 p.m.
