Pesso's overtime game-winner helps Lakeland beat Cincinnati on the road, 1-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Carlos Pesso has found success in overtime as the freshman forward scored in the first minute of the second overtime for Lakeland Community College men's soccer to beat Cincinnati State Technical & Community College 1-0 Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Lakers improve to 9-3-1 overall and stay at 5-3-1 in Region XII play.

Lakeland had plenty of chances to score in the match but it took until the second overtime period for Franklin Durugbor to find Pesso for the game-winner in the 101st minute.

The Lakers had a total of 15 shots and 11 of those shots were on goal.

"We dominated offensively," said Djuro Peric, Lakeland head coach. "We were just unlucky when it came to scoring."

Aaron Hafer picked up the victory in goal and made nine saves in 101 minutes.

Lakeland will next be at home against Lorain County Community College for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. The Lakers are 2-0 against Lorain this season.
