Lakers held scoreless in loss to Cuyahoga, 4-0

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland Community College men's soccer had a hard time getting any offense and Cuyahoga Community College pulled away in the second half with three goals for a 4-0 win over the Lakers Wednesday afternoon.

The loss was damaging for Lakeland as the Lakers fall to 11-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in Region XII play. With the Cuyahoga moves ahead of Lakeland with 18 points for second place as the Lakers fall to third with 16 points.

Lakeland did manage to get off 10 shots but only four shots were on goal. In contrast, Cuyahoga fired 27 shots and 15 of those shots were on goal. Maksim Spasiuk led the Lakers with three shots.

Lakeland keeper did manage to get 11 saves in the losing effort.

Abdoulaye Dia scored for Cuyahoga in the first half. Merouane Sadji, Andrew Brown and Kemor Turner each scored the goal in the second half.

Lakeland will look to bounce back on the road against Ancilla College on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m.
