The Lakeland men's soccer team traveled to Grand Rapids Community College today to face the Raiders and ran into a buzz saw as they dropped a 5-0 decision. The Lakers started off slow and the Raiders took advantage about 15 minutes in for a 1-0 lead. The Lakers had a chance to knot the score a few minutes later as Kyle Roundy set Josue Rodriguez-Cisneros up on a breakaway. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Raiders netminder was up to the task. The Lakers then had a couple of defensive miscues later in the half and Grand Rapids converted on both of them to take a 3-0 lead into the break. In the second half, the Raiders continued to take advantage of Laker miscues and scored on a couple of breakaways sending the Lakers to the defeat.
Till Oppermann was credited with 14 saves in the defeat.
Mayer's Moments: "It was a difficult match for us today. We had a couple of chances that we were unable to convert and GRCC was able to convert on every one of our miscues. Just a tough one. We had some good efforts out there, but just weren't as consistent with our play as we need to be."
