Elizabeth Montgomery named OCCAC softball player of the week for Lakeland

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – There is a smorgasbord of institutions represented in this week's OCCAC Spring Athletes of the Week. Each of the four honors went to a different school.

Softball Position Player of the Week

Montgomery (Madison) strung together a six-game hitting streak last week, batting .556 (10-18) overall. She slugged three doubles, a triple and homerun en route to 11 RBI. Montgomery was a factor on the base paths as well, swiping two bags and plating 10 runs personally. She registered four RBI in two different contests.

On the season, Montgomery is hitting .333 with 25 hits and 24 RBIs as the freshman outfielder is flourishing at the plate and in the field.

Lakeland (12-12, 1-5) softball will play host Sinclair Community College on Friday, April 20 for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
