Hribar, Malkamaki and Montgomery earn All-Conference honors for Lakeland softball

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland softball had three freshmen named to the 2018 All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference team and one player named to the All-Region XII Team for the 2018 season.

Kallista Hribar (Sturtevant, Wis.), Cameron Malkamaki (Painesville) and Elizabeth Montgomery (Madison) each made the All-OCCAC team while Hribar made the All-Region XII team.

During conference play, Hribar hit .514 with six home runs and 13 RBIs. Overall, Hribar is second in NJCAA Division II batting average at .615 (a school record) and broke Lakeland's record for runs scored (52).

Malkamaki hit .436 in OCCAC play and hit two home runs while bringing in 14 RBIs. Malkamaki, who didn't catch in high school, moved to catcher for the Lakers and posted a .964 fielding percentage behind the plate in half the games with the other games playing outfield.

An everyday outfielder, Montgomery hit .297 in OCCAC play with 10 RBIs and maintained a .957 fielding percentage during her freshman season.

Lakeland softball went 4-8 in conference play and finished third in the standings while finishing the season with a 17-15 overall record.
