Kallista Hribar and Cameron Malkamaki named NFCA All-East Region

KIRTLAND, Ohio – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) named two softball players from Lakeland to its NFCA NJCAA Division II All-East Region team as Kallista Hribar (Sturtevant, Wis.) and Cameron Malkamaki (Painesville) each earned a spot on the All-East team.

"It is an honor for Kallista and Cameron to be recognized by the coaches in the East Region for this award," said Jeff Morganti, Lakeland softball head coach. "This is the first time Lakeland has had two players selected in the same season."

Hribar earned a spot on the first team NFCA All-East Region team as an infielder with a batting average of .615, which was second-best in NJCAA Division II. Hribar's batting average and 52 runs scored were both school records at Lakeland.

Malkamaki was named to the second team NFCA All-East Region team as a utility player as she played at catcher and in the outfield. Malkamaki had the second-highest batting average on the team at .394 while leading the team in RBIs (39) and at-bats (109).

Lakeland finished the 2018 season with a 17-15 record and a 4-8 record in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.
