Lakers pull away from Erie in the fourth to win home opener, 82-74

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland Community College women's basketball used a big fourth quarter in which it outscored Erie Community College by 10 points to pull away for an 82-74 victory in its home opener Friday night.

The Lakers improved to 2-0 on the young season behind 19 points from Armani Jackson, who also added nine total rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive side. Ziona Williams finished with 16 points and six rebounds.

Aryana Jackson had 12 points, Brianna Williams finished with 11 and Delesha Jackson ended the game with 10 in the victory.

Lakeland came out a little slow in the opening quarter and trailed Erie 20-14 after 10 minutes and Armani Jackson led the Lakers with four points in the quarter. The second quarter was much better as Ziona Williams scored all 11 of her points in the quarter as the Lakers outscored Erie 26-21 but still trailed 41-40 at the break.

Armani Jackson came out strong in the second half and scored seven points in the third but Erie was able to outscore Lakeland 21-20 to take a slim 62-60 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was nearly all Lakeland as the Lakers outscored Erie 22-12 behind eight points from Armani Jackson to storm back for the eight-point victory.

Lakeland will next open up the TJ Memorial Tournament hosted by Lakeland beginning on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. against Pitt-Titusville.
