Lakers cruise past Hocking in conference opener, 109-43

NELSONVILLE, Ohio - Lakeland Community College women's basketball grabbed control of the momentum early on and never let go in a 109-43 victory over Hocking College to open up Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.

The Lakers won their conference opener and improved to 5-0 on the season, matching their win total from last season in only five games.

Armani Jackson was able to break loose against Hocking and scored 25 points to lead the way. Aryana Jackson chipped in 22 points while Lauryn Mitchell came off the bench to score 12 points. Delesha Jackson and Angel Cannon each scored 10 points while Brittney Prugel and Brianna Williams each scored nine in the victory.

Lakeland was able to jump out to a 24-14 lead after the first quarter and then that lead expanded to 52-28 at the half. The game didn't get any closer from there as the Lakers cruised to the 66-point victory.

Lakeland will be back home on Tuesday, Nov. 21 for a game against Genesee Community College at 5:30 p.m.
