Armani Jackson named NJCAA Division II women’s basketball player of the week for Lakeland

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Armani Jackson (Copley) only played game between Nov. 13-19 but that one game was good enough for her to be named NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week for Lakeland Community College women's basketball.

In one game against Hocking College, Jackson scored 25 points on 12-of-16 shooting and added 21 rebounds in a 109-43 victory on Nov. 18. Out of her 21 rebounds, 15 of those came on the offensive end for Jackson.

Jackson was also named Ohio Community College Athletic Conference player of the week for last week for the second time this season.

Through six games, Jackson is averaging 17.2 points and 13.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43.5 percent from the field. She has helped a Lakeland team that won five games in 2016-17 a year ago to a blistering 6-0 start to the season. Through six victories, the Lakers are averaging 92.5 points while allowing 58.7 to opponents.

Lakeland will next be in action on Wednesday, Nov. 29 against Lorain County Community College at 5:30 p.m.
