Lakeland Community College women's basketball has already won three more games than a season ago and it is that fast start to 2017-18 that has the Lakers breaking into the NJCAA Division II rankings at No. 18.

At 8-0, Lakeland is off to a hot start and is scoring 92 points per game. This is the first rankings released during the 2017-18 season and the complete rankings can be seen here: http://www.njcaa.org/sports/wbkb/2017-18/div2/polls

The Lakers are 2-0 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference and freshman forward Armani Jackson (Copley) has been named conference player of the week twice and national player of the week once. Jackson is averaging 16.3 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.

It has been a balanced effort for Lakeland as four players are averaging in double digits in points. Aryana Jackson is averaging 18.8 points per game, Delesha Jackson is averaging 10.6 points per game and Ziona Williams is averaging 10.4 points per game through eight games.

Lakeland will next play on Saturday, Dec. 16 on the road at Jamestown Community College at 1 p.m. The next home game will be on Wednesday, Dec. 20 against St. Clair County Community College at 6 p.m.
