KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland Community College women's basketball had little trouble building up a big lead and the Lakers rolled to a 105-33 victory over Clark State Community College Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Lakeland improves to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.
The Lakers used a balanced effort on offense with Armani Jackson and Aryana Jackson each scoring 20 points. With eight rebounds and nine steals, Aryana Jackson was only a couple rebounds and a steal shy of a triple-double in the win.
Ziona Williams, Delesha Jackson and Brianna Williams each scored 15 points while Angel Cannon scored 10 points in the lopsided victory.
Lakeland had little trouble getting off to a great start by scoring the first 10 points of the game. Armani Jackson set the tone early with 10 points while Brianna Williams tossed in nine and the Lakers held a 31-8 lead after one quarter.
Clark State was more competitive in the second quarter but Lakeland didn't not let the game get any closer. Aryana Jackson came off the bench in the second and scored seven points as Lakeland outscored Clark State 16-11 to take a 47-19 lead into halftime.
The drubbing continued into the second half as Lakeland outscored Clark State 58-14 in the latter half. Armani Jackson, Brianna Williams and Cannon each scored six in the third quarter as the Lakers held a 73-26 heading into the final quarter.
The final quarter was just a formality as Ziona Williams and Delesha Jackson each scored eight points as Lakeland cruised to the 73-point victory.
Lakeland will be back home on Wednesday, Jan. 24 for a conference game against Owens Community College beginning at 5:30 p.m.
