Lakers cruise past Hocking, 104-43

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland Community College had little trouble finding and hitting open shots in a 104-43 beating of Hocking College Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Lakers improve to 13-5 overall and 5-3 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Brianna Williams had a big game with 30 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way. All starters for the Lakers reached double digits in scoring.

Delesha Jackson finished with 24 points, Armani Jackson picked up a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Ziona Williams tossed in 12 points and Angel Cannon contributed 11 points and nine rebounds.

Lakeland shot 49 percent from the field on 49-of-98 shooting compared to just 27.1 percent from Hocking.

Lakeland set the pace early on as Delesha Jackson found her way to the basket with 12 points and helped the Lakers out to a 30-16 lead after one quarter. It was more of the same in the second quarter as Ziona Williams led Lakeland with seven points while Lakeland outscored Hocking 25-9 on its way to a 55-25 lead at the break.

Armani Jackson got going in the third quarter with 12 points while Lakeland caused eight turnovers for Hocking and outscored the Hawks 27-8 for an 82-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Lakeland was able to cruise to the 61-point victory after outscoring Hocking 22-10 in the fourth. Brianna Williams tossed in 14 points in the final quarter.

Lakeland will have another home game on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. against Columbus State Community College.
