No. 5 Owens uses big fourth quarter to beat Lakers, 61-41

PERRYSBURG, Ohio - No. 5 Owens Community College turned a three-point advantage after three quarters into a 61-41 victory over Lakeland Community College with a big final quarter Wednesday night. 

With the loss, the Lakers fall to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. 

Armani Jackson did lead Lakeland with 17 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Delesha Jackson also reached double figures with 11 points. 

Lakeland kept it close with Owens in the first half as the Lakers trailed 19-15 after the first quarter. Owens outscored the Lakers 16-12 in the second quarter to take a 35-27 lead at the break. 

The third quarter was the best for Lakeland as the Lakers outscored Owens 18-13 to pull within 48-45 heading into the final quarter. The fourth quarter was a forgettable one for Lakeland as the Lakers only scored six points as Owens pulled away for a 20-point victory. 

Lakeland will next play at home on Wednesday, Feb. 28 against Edison State Community College at 5:30 p.m.
