Lakeland’s Armani Jackson named runner-up OCCAC player of the year

Lakeland women's basketball had three players named to the 2017-18 Ohio Community College Athletic Conference postseason awards, including a runner-up in OCCAC player of the year honor.

Armani Jackson (Copley) was named the OCCAC runner-up player of the year in her freshman season at Lakeland. Jackson led the Lakers with 17.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game in 24 starts. She also earned a spot on the OCCAC All-Freshman Team. Armani Jackson also earned a spot on the Division II All-District 11 team after scoring 19 points and nine rebounds in a semifinal loss to Owens Community College.

Armani Jackson wasn't the only player named to the conference list as Delesha Jackson (Cleveland) earned second team honors after scoring 13.3 points per game. Delesha Jackson was a very balance player as she totaled 117 rebounds, 90 assists and 82 steals on the season. Delesha Jackson also earned on a spot on the OCCAC All-Freshman Team and the OCCAC All-Defensive Team during her freshman season.

Brianna Williams (Twinsburg) earned honorable mention OCCAC All-Conference as she scored 10.6 points per game and hauled in 139 total rebounds.

After finishing 5-20 in 2016-17, Lakeland women's basketball finished 2017-18 with a 16-10 overall record and a spot in the NJCAA Region XII District I Semifinal and lost to eventual champion Owens.
