NORTH EAST, Pa. – Lakeland women's basketball and Mercyhurst North East previously battled to an overtime finish and the game was again close Tuesday night as the Lakers again picked up the narrow victory by the score of 81-75.

Delesha Jackson picked up the scoring for Lakeland with 22 points as the Lakers improved to 6-0 overall and stayed at 1-0 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.

Calasia Cunningham made half of her shots from the field to finish with 16 points. Selah Richardson finished with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while Destiny Khay finished with 10 points in the win.

Lakeland was able to get out to a slim 19-17 lead in the opening quarter as Jackson scored five to lead the way. Mercyhurst North East turned to momentum in the second quarter to outscore the Lakers 22-17 to take a 39-36 lead at halftime. Jackson scored six in the second while Khay came off the bench to score five.

The Lakers came out much better in the third quarter, outscoring Mercyhurst North East 22-16 to take a 58-55 lead heading into the fourth. Cunningham was a big reason for the comeback, scoring eight points in the quarter.

Lakeland never gave up the lead in the final quarter as Richardson scored 10 to help the Lakers complete the six-point victory.

Lakeland will be back home on Wednesday, Nov. 28 for a conference matchup against Columbus State Community College at 5:30 p.m.
