Lakeland women use big fourth quarter to top Genesee at Niagara County tournament, 84-67

SANBORN, N.Y. – Lakeland women's basketball led by only two points heading into the fourth quarter but the Lakers outscored Genesee Community College by 15 points to cruise to an 84-67 victory to open the Thunderwolves Classic at Niagara County Community College Saturday afternoon.

Selah Richardson came off the bench to lead Lakeland with 21 points to help the Lakers improve to 9-3 overall. Lakeland remains 3-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Calasia Cunningham hit four 3-pointers to finish with 18 points and eight rebounds. Delesha Jackson scored 16 points while Alicia Sephus scored 10 points in the win.

The game was close through the first three quarters as Lakeland held an 18-16 lead after one and extended it slightly to 40-37 at halftime.

Genesee outscored Lakeland 20-19 to get within 59-57 but the Lakers broke the game open in the fourth to close out their ninth victory of the season.

Lakeland will close out the Thunderwolves Classic with a game against host Niagara County Community College on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m.
