PIQUA, Ohio – Lakeland women's basketball used a big second quarter to grab an early lead and the Lakers held on for a 68-60 victory over Edison State Community College Sunday afternoon.

Selah Richardson had a well-rounded game with a team-high 19 points while adding seven rebounds and six steals to help Lakeland improve to 15-6 overall and 8-1 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Edison State fell to 6-3 in the OCCAC standings.

The Lakers had two others in double figures as Delesha Jackson dropped in 18 points while Alicia Sephus scored 16 points coming off the bench in the win.

Lakeland didn't shoot the ball particularly well, making just 38.4 percent of field goals and went 5-of-28 from behind the 3-point line. Still, the Lakers were able to grab a 15-14 lead after one and extend that lead to 36-26 at the half.

Edison State outscored Lakeland by just two points in the second half as the Lakers were able to hold on for the victory.

Lakeland will return home for a game on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. against Bryant & Stratton (OH). The Lakers beat Bryant & Stratton 83-66 back on Jan. 9.
