Jackson scores 24 off the bench to help Lakeland past Bryant & Stratton, 60-46

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland women's basketball got 24 points from Delesha Jackson and outscored Bryant Stratton College (OH) 17-7 in the fourth quarter to earn a 60-46 victory Wednesday night.

Jackson was one of three players in double figures as Lakeland improved to 16-6 overall and stayed at 8-1 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Julie Hajdu chipped in 14 points while Destiny Khay tossed in 10 points. Alicia Sephus scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win.

Lakeland got off to a fast start in the first quarter as Hajdu scored seven points on 3-of-4 shooting to help the Lakers grab an 18-11 lead after one.

The second quarter was more even as both teams scored 17 points. For Lakeland, it was Jackson coming off the bench to score 12 of the team's 17 points as Lakeland still hung on to a 35-28 at halftime.

Bryant & Stratton inched closer to Lakeland in the third by outscoring the Lakers 11-8. Lakeland only made 3-of-20 shots in the third and held on to a 43-39 lead heading into the fourth.

Jackson came on in the fourth to score six points and help Lakeland extend its lead with a 17-7 quarter that helped the Lakers coast to the 14-point victory.

Lakeland will next hit the road on Saturday, Feb. 9 to face Owens Community College for a game at 1 p.m. Owens is 9-2 in the OCCAC as a Division III team.
