SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Lakeland women's basketball was narrowly able to escape with a 62-59 road win at Clark State Community College Saturday afternoon.

Destiny Khay came off the bench to lead Lakeland with 13 points as the Lakers improved to 18-7 overall and 10-2 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Clark State fell to 3-11 in OCCAC play.

Selah Richardson added 12 points while Delesha Jackson scored 11 points. Alicia Sephus secured a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to help Lakeland to the victory.

Lakeland got off to the slight lead in the first quarter, leading 15-12 after one. The Lakers expanded that lead by one at halftime by outscoring Clark State 13-12 to grab a 28-24 lead at the break.

Lakeland was still able to shake Clark State as the Lakers only outscored the home team by one 15-14 to take a 43-38 lead into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was the only quarter that Clark State outscored Lakeland but it was only 21-19 in the final quarter as Lakeland held on for the three-point victory.

Lakeland will have a quick turnaround and travel to play Columbus State Community College on Monday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. Columbus State is 4-9 in the OCCAC.
