COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lakeland women's basketball got a double-double from Alicia Sephus as the Lakers topped Columbus State Community College 83-65 Monday evening.

Sephus led Lakeland with 22 points and also led in rebounds with 17 to help the Lakers improve to 19-7 overall and 11-2 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Columbus State fell to 4-10 in the OCCAC.

Sephus wasn't the only player to score over 20 for Lakeland as Delesha Jackson dropped in 21 points while Ziona Williams added 17 points in the victory.

Lakeland did come out a little sluggish as Columbus State outscored the Lakers 16-13 in the first quarter. Sephus did score six points in the opening quarter but Lakeland only made 4-of-19 shots to fall behind early on.

The second quarter was a different story as Lakeland outscored Columbus State by 10. Sephus kept it rolling with seven points while Julie Hajdu added a pair of 3-pointers to score six as Lakeland took a 36-29 lead into halftime.

As good as the second quarter was, the third was even better for Lakeland as the Lakers outscored Columbus State by 15 in the period. Jackson went off in the third, scoring 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting to help guide Lakeland to a 69-47 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

With a 22-point lead heading into the final quarter, Lakeland was able to cruise to the 18-point victory even after getting outscored by Columbus State by four. Sephus scored seven and grabbed seven rebounds to help the Lakers maintain a large lead.

Lakeland will be back home on Wednesday, Feb. 20 against Lorain County Community College for a game at 5:30 p.m.
