Lakeland unable to hold off Harford in second half, 5-0

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland women's soccer did a good job of keeping Harford out of the net in the first half but the Lakers surrendered five second half goals in a 5-0 loss Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Lakeland falls to 1-4 overall and remains 0-2 in Region XII play.

Maria Sill (Geneva) was able to get off three of the five total shots for the Lakers with one on goal but could not score. Briana Paulett (Lyndhurst) and Lora Stewart (Cleveland Heights) bot had a shot on goal in the loss.

Erica Wayts (Painesville) did an admirable job in goal, recording 12 saves and keeping Harford scoreless in the first half. Harford finally broke through in the 54th minute and momentum stayed with visiting Harford for the rest of the match in the five-goal loss for the Lakers.

Lakeland will look to get back in the win column with a home game Wednesday, Sept. 19 against Lorain County Community College beginning at 4 p.m.
