Lakeland scores first but Lake Michigan picks up the win, 2-1

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland women's soccer started fast with a goal in the first 20 minutes but Lake Michigan College scored the final two goals to steal away a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon in a Region XII match up.

With the loss, Lakeland falls to 1-5-1 overall and 0-3 in Region XII play.

Samantha Parmertor (Madison) put Laeland up early with her goal but it would be the only goal scored for the Lakers. Parmertor scored in the 18th minute after a brilliant pass forward by Briana Paulett (Lyndhurst) to take a 1-0 lead.

Lake Michigan tied the game in the 33rd minute and then scored the game winner in the 73rd minute.

Aside from her assist, Paulett also had a shot on goal. Lora Stewart (Cleveland Heights) also had a shot on goal in the loss.

Lakeland will finish up the weekend with a home game Sunday, Sept. 23 against Muskegon Community College at 11 a.m. The Lakers lost to Muskegon 9-0 in the second game of the season on Aug. 26 and will look for a better result.
