Lakers show improvement in loss to Muskegon, 2-0

KIRTLAND, Ohio – After losing by nine goals in the first meeting, Lakeland women's soccer showed improvement defensively in a 2-0 loss to Muskegon Community College Sunday afternoon.

After the loss, Lakeland's overall record falls to 1-6-1 overall and 0-4 in Region XII play.

Both goals for Muskegon came in the first half as the Lakers held Muskegon scoreless in the second half.

Liz Serago (Euclid) had the only two shots on goal for Lakeland as her first was should have been a goal if not for an impressive save by the Muskegon keeper.

Lakeland keeper Erica Wayts (Painesville) had a great game in goal by making 11 saves along with the defensive help of Macie Miechowicz (Madison), Brooke Resse (Willowick) and Elena Logan (Geneva).

Lakeland will host another conference game on Saturday, Sept. 29 against Ancilla College at 1 p.m.
