Two second half goals lifts Jackson past Lakeland, 2-0

JACKSON, Mich. – Lakeland women's soccer was able to keep Jackson College away from goal in the first half but Jackson fired in a couple goals in the second half to take a 2-0 victory over the Lakers Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Lakeland's overall record falls to 2-8-1 and its Region XII record falls to 1-5. Jackson leads Region XII with a 5-0 record.

Maria Sill (Geneva) was the only Lakeland player able to fire off a shot and she was able to blast four shots with one shot landing on goal.

Even in the loss, Lakeland keeper Erica Wayts (Painesville) made eight saves as Jackson fired off 12 shots compared to just four for the Lakers.

Lakeland will look to split the road trip with a game Sunday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. against Ancilla College. The Lakers beat Ancilla 1-0 on Sept. 29 for Lakeland's first ever conference victory while Ancilla remains 0-6.
