Three Lakeland Community College volleyball players earned Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) honors for the 2017 season.

Middle blocker Iesha Niciu (Ashtabula) and libero Brittney O'Hara (Sandusky) earned first team All-OCCAC while outside hitter Cary Morin (Burton) earned OCCAC honorable mention. Niciu was also named conference freshman of the year for 2017.

Niciu finished the season with 414 kills, which is second-most in Lakeland volleyball history. The freshman finished with a hitting percentage of .376 and earned 264 blocks, which her 2.16 blocks per set puts her at fifth in the NJCAA.

O'Hara broke the school record with 921 digs in her primary role as libero as the sophomore and finished in fourth place nationally in digs.  

Morin was second on the team in kills as a sophomore with 379 and added 336 digs and 114 blocks to be an all-around player for the Lakers.

The Lakers nearly finished the season with their first trip to the NJCAA Division II national tournament but lost 3-2 to Mott Community College on Nov. 4. Lakeland finished 2017 with a 20-15 record.
