Lakeland swept by Lorain County, 3-0

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland volleyball started out strong but could not win a set as Lorain County Community College earned a 3-0 sweep by the score 25-21, 25-13 and 25-14 Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Lakers fall to 2-11 overall and 1-4 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.

Morgan Smart (Perry) was the closest Laker to double figures in kills with nine but she finished with 20 digs. Charriel Bourns (Cleveland) secures six kills while Olivia Scott (Willoughby) ended with 16 assists.

Lakeland started out fine and scored 21 points in the first set loss. After the first set, it went downhill from there as Lorain County secured control of the match to win in three.

Lakeland will next be at home on Wednesday, Sept. 19 against Columbus State Community College for a 6 p.m. match.
