Lakers swept by Columbus State, 3-0

KIRTLAND, Ohio – Lakeland volleyball put together a good effort in the second set but it wasn't enough to win a set as Columbus State Community College beat Lakeland 3-0 by the score 25-8, 25-20 and 25-10 Wednesday evening.

With the loss, Lakeland falls to 2-12 overall and 1-5 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Morgan Smart (Perry) churned out another double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs. Erynn Daubenmire (Willoughby) earned six kills while Olivia Scott (Willoughby) dished out 19 assists.

After a rough first set loss, Lakeland looked to recover and played much better in the second. The Lakers still fell 25-20 in the second and was swept after a rough third set.

Lakeland will look to recover when it hits the road to play Hocking College on Friday, Sept. 21 for a match at 6 p.m. Lakeland's lone conference win came against Hocking to open the season.
