Lakeland swept by Lorain County on the road, 3-0

ELYRIA, Ohio – Lakeland volleyball played well in the second set and scored 20 points but the Lakers were unable to win a set as Lorain County Community College won 3-0 by the score 25-14, 25-20 and 25-11 Thursday afternoon.

With the loss, Lakeland falls to 4-19 overall and 2-9 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play.

Lakeland did get four kills from Erynn Daubenmire (Eastlake) and Morgan Smart (Perry) while Stephanie Chait (Brooklyn) earned 11 digs in the loss.

Lakeland started out with momentum and won 14 points but lost the first set. The second set was the best for the Lakers as Lakeland scored 20 points but still fell behind 2-0 in sets. Lorain County sealed the sweep with a 25-11 victory in the third set.

Lakeland volleyball will be back home on Friday, Oct. 26 for a doubleheader against Edison State Community College beginning at 6 p.m.
