The Lakeland volleyball team continued their road swing by traveling to Hocking College today to face the Hawks in OCCAC action. The Lakers came out with one of their stronger performances of the season as they defeated the Hawks 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-11). The Lakers bounced back from Friday and played exceptionally well defensively while also putting together strong net play and a high energy effort. Coach Watts commented, "I was very happy with how we responded today. Everyone contributed and I'm happy that the team was rewarded for their efforts."
Sydney Park had a game high 9 kills to go with 5 aces and 2 digs. Avrie Shenkel finished with 8 kills while Allison Hedrick led the team with 6 aces. Alyssa Lino finished the game with 3 kills and 3 aces while Taylor Williams-Stevens picked up 4 kills for the Lakers. Samantha Winter recorded 23 assists and 3 kills while Estella Dotson had 3 aces in the Laker win.
Watts' Word: "I'm pleased with the energy and focus today. We set some team goals for the game today and they really worked hard to achieve them. Everyone played a part which was great to see. I'm hoping we continue to learn and grow and that this helps us start on a little roll moving forward - very proud of them all."
Next Up: The Lakers will have a very quick turn-around as they will play host to the Lorain County Commodores on Monday (9/30) at 6:00 pm in Laker Gym. This will be a non-league match for the two teams.
