Baseball drops two to Surry Community College

In the first game, the Lakers spotted Surry an 8-0 lead before a late rally fell short in the 8-4 loss.  The Lakers managed seven hits in this game, three by Levi Jones.  In the last frame, Cody Pittenger started the inning with a walk. The Lakers then got consecutive singles by Mitchell Dragon, Spencer Schultz (RBI), Levi Jones (RBI), and Adam Samuels (RBI).  Jones scored the final run on an RBI groundout by Glavine Harpe. Kyle Tucker started for the Lakers and took the loss. He threw four innings and allowed six hits and seven runs (three earned). Andrew Gorby pitched the final two innings allowing three hits and one unearned run.

The second games' first three innings featured all the scoring in this matchup. The Lakers struck early jumping out to a 4-1 lead after two innings; but a five run third for Surry closed out the scoring as Lakeland lost 6-4.  The Lakers combined eight walks with six hits to score their four runs. Glavine Harpe and Spencer Schultz each had two hits for Lakeland. Hudson Widrig started on the mound for the Lakers and was charged with six runs over 2.1 innings. Kyle Zabarsky then came in and pitched the final 3.2 innings allowing three hits and no runs.

The Lakers will head to Georgia next weekend and play at Shorter University (JV).
