Lakers lose a pair of games to Mott, 10-4 and 10-0

ORLANDO, Fla. – Lakeland baseball had a rough time in a doubleheader loss to Mott Community College by the scores of 10-4 and 10-0 Tuesday afternoon.

With the pair of losses, Lakeland falls to 1-7 overall.

Mott 10 – Lakeland 4

Mott jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and Lakeland was not able to come all the way back in 10-4 loss.

Collin Witherspoon, Cole Wajda, Ronnie Franklin and Mike Zeuli each had an RBI in the loss. Riley Grieco hit a triple and Zac Sabol hit a single and double in the loss.

After falling behind 6-0, Lakeland did score four runs in the fourth inning but that would be the final runs scored by the Lakers. Mott went on to score the final four runs to win by six.

Mott 10 – Lakeland 0

Lakeland could only muster three hits as Mott completed the sweep with a 10-0 victory.

Grieco hit a double while Witherspoon and Bryan Dembie each hit a single in the loss.

Mott scored four runs in the opening inning, one run in the second and five in the third to jump out to a big lead.

Lakeland will continue its spring break trip in Florida with a doubleheader against Triton College on Wednesday, March 13 beginning at 2:30 p.m.
