KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Lakeland baseball scored 15 runs on offense but was unable to win a game against Triton College Wednesday afternoon in losing a doubleheader by the scores of 12-7 and 19-8.

With the pair of losses, Lakeland's overall record falls to 1-9.

Triton 12 – Lakeland 7

Lakeland dug itself an early five-run hole in the first four innings and could not recover in a 12-7 loss to Triton.

Brendon Perez did hit a triple and brought in three runs. Collin Witherspoon brought in two runs with a single.

Lakeland fell behind 5-0 after four innings but was able to score three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Unfortunately, Triton matched Lakeland's efforts to maintain the five-run lead until the final pitch.

Triton 19 – Lakeland 8

Lakeland got off to a fast start in the second game and jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning but the lead would not hold as Triton finished off Lakeland with a 19-8 victory to complete the sweep.

Juan Guerrero belted a pair of doubles and brought in three runs. Cole Wajda had a single and brought in two runs. Matt Detering, Tyler Knapp and Ronnie Franklin each had an RBI in the loss. Perez hit a double and Franklin belted a triple against Triton.

Lakeland led 5-0 after one inning but Triton grabbed a 9-5 lead in the middle of the fourth inning. The Lakers added more runs in the fourth and in the sixth but could not keep with Triton.

Lakeland will play a pair of games in Florida on Friday, March 15. First, Lakeland will face Jackson College at 9:30 a.m. and then face Waubonsee Community College at 1:30 p.m.
