Lakers wrap up Florida trip with doubleheader loss to Kirkwood, 16-5 and 10-0

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Lakeland baseball wrapped up its Florida trip with a pair of losses to Kirkwood Community College by the scores of 16-5 and 10-0 Saturday.

With the losses, Lakeland's overall record falls to 1-13.

Kirkwood 16 – Lakeland 5

Lakeland actually got off to a fast start in jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning but Kirkwood finished strong and pulled out the 16-5 win.

Osvoldo Balbuena hit a single and a double while bringing in two runs while Seth France and Collin Witherspoon each had an RBI in the loss. Cole Wajda hit a double and walked twice for Lakeland.

Kirkwood 10 – Lakeland 0

Lakeland was unable to get on the scoreboard in the second game in a 10-0 loss to Kirkwood.

Matt Detering and Tony Miller each had two singles in the loss.

Lakeland will open conference play on Friday, March 22 at Owens Community College with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
