FAIRBORN, Ohio – Lakeland baseball had to finished a suspended game from Friday and play two more against Sinclair Community College and lost all three by the scores 16-2, 12-2 and 11-0 Sunday afternoon.
With the losses, Lakeland falls to 6-32 overall and 5-15 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play. Sinclair improved to 19-1 in conference games.
Sinclair 16 – Lakeland 2
Lakeland scored first but was unable to keep Sinclair from scoring a bunch in a 16-2 loss in five innings.
Matt Detering did have an RBI and two singles while Tyler Knapp hit a single and a double. Mike Zeuli hit a pair of singles in the loss.
Lakeland scored one run in the top of the first but then Sinclair scored 16 runs in the first three innings to take control of the game. The Lakers added one run in the fifth but Sinclair still maintained a large enough lead to end the game in the fifth.
Sinclair 12 – Lakeland 2
Lakeland dug itself an early hole in the second game of the day as Sinclair jumped out to a 10-0 lead and held on for the 12-2 victory in five innings.
Knapp knocked in a pair of runs and hit a single while Detering hit a double.
Lakeland trailed 10-0 heading into the fourth inning but scored two in the fourth with the two-run knock by Knapp. Sinclair added two runs in the fifth to end the game early.
Sinclair 11 – Lakeland 0
Lakeland could only muster one hit in the final game as Sinclair secured the sweep with an 11-0 victory.
Detering had the lone hit for Lakeland in the final game.
Lakeland will next travel to face Cuyahoga Community College on Friday, April 26 for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
