Lakers baseball falls to Surry

On the second day outside, the Lakers got competitive. After a rough opening day to the same Surry Knights, the Lakers came out and battled. Unfortunately, they had one difficult inning that cost them in a 13-10 loss. The Lakers are now 0-3 on the season. In this game, the Lakers banged out 14 hits. Jakob Case went 3-4 with a double, RBI, and 2 runs scored. Mike Zeuli continued to swing the bat well for the Lakers as he collected 2 hits (1 HR) and 3 RBI while Cole Wajda also homered on a 2 hit day. Also collecting multiple hit days for the Lakers were Derek Diaz, Collin Witherspoon, and Tim Eppich. On the mound, Justin Demassimo was the lone bright spot as he threw 2 innings allowing 1 run (0 earned) while striking out two.   

Krause's Quips: "We came out today, after a rough opener, and played a competitive game. One big inning cost us against a quality opponent in Surry. We battled all game and gave ourselves an opportunity to win. We hope to build off today and continue to improve each day we are down here getting ready for our tough conference schedule."

Next up: The Lakers will play a DH both Tuesday and Wednesday at Ripken Experience before a scheduled off day on Thursday. Game times start at 9am on Tuesday and 1 pm on Wednesday.
